This in-house legal role within Adecco Group Australia will be based in either Melbourne or Sydney and will support Adecco’s recruitment and staffing business. The role will suit an experienced lawyer with 3 to 5 years PAE. The role is exciting and varied, and offers exposure to commercial and contract law, privacy law, workplace relations and compliance activities within our business, with the support of our high performing in-house team.
Key Remit
• Coverage over all Adecco Group businesses and brands (Adecco, Akkodis and LHH) in Australia and New Zealand.
• Opportunity to work collaboratively with other functions to ensure all commercial opportunities are in compliance with the internal policies and our commercial interests are maximised.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve the role of the ANZ Legal team within the Adecco ANZ business.
The Legal Counsel is a member of the Adecco Group ANZ Legal and Compliance function.
They are responsible for ensuring the provision of day to day legal support for the Australia and New Zealand operations and responsible for ensuring that Adecco’s commercial interest is protected in the contract negotiation and all employees are compliant with all applicable laws, regulations and internal policies.

About The Role
Business Partnering
• Provide business partnering support to the Adecco ANZ business, including reviewing various contracts, RFPs/RFTs, statutory interpretation, drafting legal documents and providing strategic advice
• Provide business partnering support to back-office functions
• Deal with a large number and variety of legal matters including governance, privacy and information sharing, commercial, suppliers, intellectual property, employment and dispute resolution in a hands-on, pragmatic and efficient manner.
• Assist with early warning on any emerging issues, including legal or regulatory changes
• Ensure that work is progressed in a proactive and commercial way offering solutions and alternative approaches where appropriate
• Demonstrate high levels of visibility across Adecco ANZ business
• Manage the workload, demonstrating efficiencies in terms of cost and time.
Governance and Control
• Ensure that a consistent legal governance and risk framework is applied across all entities and that all Group policies are complied with.
• Ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure appropriate escalation of issues and matters requiring approval.
• Support management in designing and implementing controls and procedures to mitigate identified compliance risks.
• Support the Data Privacy Officer to ensure compliance with data privacy laws in Australia and New Zealand.
• Assist with the development of templates, policies and guidance.
• Provide training to the business.
About You
• Qualified lawyer in Australia with 3-4 years PAE legal experience in contract-heavy organisations with matrix stakeholders and prompt turnaround times
• In-house experience is preferred
• Must be internal/external customer centric
• Ability to present and communicate complex legal and other information clearly, accurately and in a way that can be understood by the relevant audience
• Experience in commercial negotiations with proven drafting and negotiation skills
• Flexible, adaptable, able to challenge the status quo, sound commercial sense and the ability to make pragmatic decisions
• Proactive and independent attitude and result oriented approach.
